COLLECTION CARE
Looking after
the art you own.
From the day a work arrives, there are details worth getting right. We help organise records, plan transport and installation, and coordinate the specialists your collection needs.
COLLECTION CARE
From purchase
to placement.
Buying a work is the beginning of owning it. Its materials, condition and setting all influence how it should be handled and displayed.
We give you one point of contact for those arrangements. Whether a work is arriving for the first time or moving with an established collection, we help plan the next steps and keep the people involved informed.
01 / MOVING A WORK
Plan the journey
Before a work moves, we consider its size, materials and condition, as well as access at each end of the journey.
We coordinate art handlers, packing, crates, transport and storage around those needs. For an international move, we liaise with the providers responsible for shipping documents and customs arrangements.
02 / DISPLAY & PROTECTION
Find its place
A frame, a wall and the light around them change how you see a work. We coordinate framers and installers to help you find a setting that suits both the art and the space.
We also help bring purchase documents and condition records together, and liaise with insurance specialists so that you can consider suitable cover for display, storage and transit.
ONGOING CARE
Keep track.
Look ahead.
A collection changes over time. Keeping its records up to date makes it easier to care for works, arrange a move or prepare for a future sale.
RECORDS YOU CAN USE
A collection register brings together images, locations and the documents held for each work. We help identify missing information and set out a care plan, with tasks and review dates.
SPECIALIST HELP, CLEARLY COORDINATED
Conservation, formal valuations, condition assessments and art handling require the right expertise. LAC coordinates qualified external providers and agrees their involvement with you. Insurance, legal and customs advice also comes from the relevant specialist.
