PRIVATE SALES

Buying and selling,
with personal advice.

A private sale starts with a work and a conversation. We help you find something you want to own or decide how to sell a work from your collection. Research, personal introductions and clear advice guide each stage.

BUYING & SELLING WITH LAC

Finding a work

You may be looking for a particular artist or still exploring. We discuss your interests, budget and timing, then look for works that fit. Each opportunity comes with our view of its place in your collection and the research still needed.

We help arrange viewings, review the available records and bring in specialist advice where appropriate. If you decide to proceed, we support negotiation, documentation and delivery.

Selling a work

A good sale strategy begins with understanding the work and your reasons for selling. We review its history and available records, then discuss presentation, timing and whom to approach. A private sale may suit your aims; a gallery or auction may offer another route.

We explain our recommendation and agree the approach before making introductions.

Discretion in practice

You decide what can be shared and with whom. Before we approach anyone, we agree our role, any exclusivity and how the work will be presented. We keep you informed as conversations develop.

From conversation to completion

We first talk through your aims, agree a brief and set out the scope of our work. Once appointed, we coordinate the research, introductions and negotiations, followed by the documents and practical arrangements needed to complete the transaction.

Understanding the market

Our guide follows the different ways a work can move from one collection to another, with questions to ask before buying or selling.
